The following are steps that need to be taken in order to complete a vacuum seal test:
1. Remove the product from the packaging.
2. Cut off one corner of the bag. This will create a “port” through which air can escape while the seal is being tested.
3. Place the product inside the bag and seal the bag by squeezing the top of the bag. Make sure that the product is fully enclosed within the bag. If there are any gaps, air will escape and the seal will not be considered valid.
4. Place the sealed bag on an elevated surface so that it does not touch any other surfaces or objects. This will prevent any moisture or air from entering into the bag and potentially compromising the seal.
5. Take a digital reading of the Vacuum (in mm Hg) at 1 foot from where the bag was placed on step 4.
